Chief Development Officer

Mr. Hamel has served as the chief development officer of AcelRx since September 2006.

Mr. Hamel has served as chief development officer since September 2006. Prior to joining AcelRx, Mr. Hamel enjoyed a 29-year tenure at ALZA Corporation where he held several positions including product development manager, director of project management, executive director of oral product development, and vice president of oral products development. Among his responsibilities, Mr. Hamel led the development of extended-release tablets that provide specific concentrations of drug at specific times of the day. He also held positions at ALZA in the research department, including senior chemist, research scientist, and senior research fellow. Mr. Hamel holds a Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of Michigan.
